simOcean is a FF4-HPC EU Project that is focused on the development of a high-fidelity tool for the optimal design of wind assisted propulsion technology.
The aim is to implement an aeroelastic solver including low and high-fidelity modules for aerodynamics viscous flow calculations, to predict the full-scale aerodynamic performance of rigid sails and to account for their dynamic behavior. The Department of Aerospace Science and Technology at the Politecnico di Milano (DAER) is in charge of developing advanced CFD methodologies for the optimization of the aerodynamics of vessels equipped with rigid sails.
