A HUMAN HEAD MODEL FOR FRACTURE PATTERN EVALUATION AND PREDICTION IN CRASH SCENARIOS

06 settembre 2023 — 0 minuti di lettura

A pioneering Finite Element Head Model capable of predicting fracture patterns in common crash scenarios has been recently developed by the LAST laboratory in collaboration with maxillo-facial surgeons Drs. Gabriele Canzi and Giorgio Novelli, from ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda and Fondazione IRCCS San Gerardo dei Tintori, Monza, Università degli Studi Milano-Bicocca.

The Model, aka Tommy, is going to be used for enhancing Passive Safety of Vulnerable Road Users such as motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians, allowing the appreciation of local injury patterns and consequently leading to better understanding of such patterns, with advantages in terms of design of protection devices, development of standard surgical treatments and forensic procedures, and in general improvement in safety for all road Users.

Next month, Tommy is going to be presented at the 14th European LS-DYNA Conference ↗, organized by DYNAmore in Baden-Baden, Germany.
