DAER CONTRIBUTION TO THE REENTRY CAMPAIGN OF LONG MARCH CZ-5B ROCKET

2022 was a hectic, stimulating year for the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology of Politecnico di Milano. Among the relevant events, last November the Long March CZ-5B rocket made an uncontrolled reentry into the atmosphere.
The reentry event was monitored by Aeronautica Militare as part of Italy’s contribution to the EUSST program.
Politecnico di Milano had the honor to support the monitoring campaign with Marco Felice Montaruli ↗ located in the Center for Space Situational Awareness (Poggio Renatico, Italian Air Force) and Luca Facchini helping the National Institute of Astrophysics to process BIRALES radar observations in Medicina.
