13 settembre 2022 — 1 minuti di lettura

Three Ph.D. candidates of the Department of Aerospace Sciences and Technologies (DAER) of Politecnico di Milano, have been awarded the ASI scholarships to participate to the 73rd International Astronautical Congress (IAC) and Space Generation Congress (SGC) in Paris this September.

The scholarship is intended for young students presenting a research paper at the IAC 2022 related to one of the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI) strategic interests.

Alessandro Masat, Ph.D. candidate of the COMPASS group, will give a talk on regularised dynamics formulation for orbital uncertainty propagation at the IAF Astrodynamics Symposium. Marco Nugnes, Ph.D. candidate of the COMPASS group, will present his research on low-thrust trajectory optimisation at the IAF Astrodynamics Symposium. Gianmario Merisio, Ph.D. candidate of the DART group, will introduce a novel method to generate families of ballistic capture orbits at the IAF Astrodynamics Symposium.

SHORT BIOS
Alessandro Masat
Alessandro Masat is a PhD student in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Milano and the European Space Agency (ESA). He holds a double Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and KTH Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm. His research involves regularisation techniques, uncertainty propagation, high fidelity orbital propagation and high-performance computing.

Marco Nugnes
Marco Nugnes is currently a Ph.D. student in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from University of Naples “Federico II” and a Master of Science in Space Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. His research interests involve satellite constellations, orbital mechanics, and low thrust optimisation.

Gianmario Merisio
Gianmario Merisio is a PhD student in Aerospace Engineering. He holds a Master of Science in Space Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering both from Politecnico di Milano. His research interests are: highly nonlinear astrodynamics, numerical methods for astrodynamics, and autonomous interplanetary CubeSats.
