Yasir is a PhD scholar in Aerospace engineering. He is a Mechatronics engineer by training and worked as a design engineer in the aerospace industry for seven years. He served as a lecturer and research associate in GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi for about three years. He is carrying out research in electric-powered aviation. Particularly, he is developing methodologies and tools for the design of transport aircraft relying on innovative power-trains (such as hydrogen fuel cells) and configurations (such as Distributed Electric Propulsion). During his PhD, Yasir contributed to two EU-funded projects: first in the H2020 MAHEPA (Modular Approach to Hybrid Electric Propulsion Architecture) project, and currently in the Clean Sky UNIFIER19 (Community Friendly Miniliner) project, which concerns the preliminary design of a 19-passenger, hydrogen-driven commuter aircraft.
