EDIDP-INTEGRAL PROJECT DEMO WEEK CONCLUSION

From 25-29 November, the INTEGRAL demo week was held simultaneously at the Aerospace Operations Command (COA) of the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) in Poggio Renatico, Italy, and the Torrejon Air Base in Madrid, Spain.
This event, attended by representatives from the Ministries of Defence of Italy, France, Spain, Germany, and Denmark, marked the first interoperability test between two European military Space Situational Awareness (SSA) centers, representing a key milestone for European defence.
The INTEGRAL (Innovative and Interoperable Technologies for Space Global Recognition and Alert) project demonstrated its role in strengthening military SSA capabilities, fostering collaboration among EU defence stakeholders, and advancing the competitiveness, autonomy, and innovation of Europe’s defence industry.
It showcased enhanced national SSA command and control capabilities, including improved detection, tracking, and characterization of space objects. These advancements enrich the Recognized Space Picture (RSP) and safeguard space assets from potential threats.
Politecnico di Milano team, led by Professor Pierluigi Di Lizia and supported by Riccardo Cipollone and Gaetano Calabrò, proudly showcased its contributions to the project's innovative services of anomalous behavior detection, and threat assessment and mitigation.
INTEGRAL has laid the foundation for EMISSARY (European Military Integrated Space Situational Awareness and Recognition Capability), a project coordinated by Leonardo and set to launch in 2025.
EMISSARY aims to integrate the largest set of technologies into an initial deployable form, enabling their certification and exploitation within Europe’s first multilateral military SSA value chain.
This project has received funding from the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) under grant agreement No EDIDP-SSAEW-SC2-2020-088-INTEGRAL.
