MICHÈLE LAVAGNA ON TGR LEONARDO

ABOUT NASA’S ARTEMIS PROGRAM AND FUTURE LUNAR EXPLORATION

NASA has recently announced a significant shift in the Artemis lunar exploration program, placing stronger emphasis on sustaining a long-term human presence on the Moon. Efforts will now focus on developing the technologies, capabilities, and modules required for a surface base, while the Gateway orbital station has been postponed.

This represents a clear signal of NASA’s determination to achieve its objectives, despite the challenges associated with revising an already ongoing development plan. Components currently under development will hopefully , be reconfigured to support the lunar surface infrastructure.

For a more in-depth analysis, we invite you to watch the interview with Professor Michèle Lavagna of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology at the Politecnico di Milano, broadcast on March 25, 2026 on TGR Leonardo
