PH.D. CANDIDATE C. HOFMANN HAS BEEN AWARDED THE ROBERTO ROCCA DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP

Our Ph.D. candidate Christian Hofmann has been awarded the prestigious Roberto Rocca Doctoral Fellowship to conduct research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the academic year 2021/2022.

He will work on novel autonomous guidance concepts for interplanetary CubeSats with his host professor Dr. Richard Linares, Co-Director of the Space Systems Laboratory in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Short bio

Christian Hofmann is a Ph.D. candidate in Aerospace Engineering and currently works on the autonomous guidance of interplanetary CubeSats. He holds a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany and worked as a research assistant at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) before he joined Politecnico di Milano in 2018. His research interests include astrodynamics, nonlinear optimal control, interplanetary CubeSats, space trajectory optimization and computational guidance and control.
