18 October 2023 — 1 minutes read

In 2023, the group for Aeronautical Research and Technology in Europe (GARTEUR) celebrated its 50th birthday.

To celebrate the event, it was decided to join researchers, scientists, and managers of the GARTEUR community in one place, to chart the future of Aeronautical Research in Europe!

The event took place on the 5th and 6th of October 2023 at the Italian Air Force Academy in Pozzuoli, Naples. As young representatives of the research community, Prof. Barbara Re and Prof. Giulio Gori from the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology of Politecnico di Milano were invited to contribute in discussing the future of GARTEUR activities concerning Rotorcraft and Urban Air Mobility.
The full delegation from the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology included also Prof. Alberto Guardone, Prof. Alex Zanotti, Donato Grassi (manager of the Experimental Aerodynamics Laboratory), and the PhD students Luca Galimberti ↗ and Giacomo Baldan.

The GARTEUR is an important organisation for research collaboration in Europe. Formed in 1973, today it involves 7 European nations: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. These nations have access to major research and test capabilities in aeronautics and form an effective alliance focused on long-term research collaborations on topics essential to assure sustained European Aeronautics Industry competitiveness.
