THE ROTORCRAFT-PILOT COUPLING LABORATORY CONCLUDES THE ROTORCRAFT DESIGN CLASS

02 December 2021 — 0 minutes read

On Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, the Rotorcraft Design class ended with the Rotorcraft-Pilot Coupling laboratory.

The participating students had an opportunity to operate the helicopter cockpit mock-up while being shaken. They will now identify their biodynamic feedthrough transfer functions, and use them to assess the stability of the pilot-vehicle system in a simple collective bounce exercise, made more interesting by the involvement of their bodies' biomechanics.

Pierangelo Masarati is full professor of aeroelasticity and structural dynamics Andrea Zanoni is assistant professor, in charge of the rotorcraft simulation laboratory Davide Marchesoli is a PhD student, working at a project on Rotorcraft-Pilot Couplings.
