Description of the research and its implications
The project will analyze the buckling and post-buckling behavior of a composite interstage structure, provide design guidance, and validate the preliminary design of the proposed interstage configuration.
Main DAER contributions
- Review and evaluation of the reference literature and available design/experimental data.
- Assessment of the concept/preliminary design of the proposed interstage structure and identified composite materials.
- Structural and dynamic simulations of the interstage structure under flight and operational loads.
- Assessment of the manufacturing and inspection/control process of the interstage structure.
- Assessment of the final design of the interstage structure and discussion/interaction with Industry.
