DR. JING YEN COST AWARENESS SCHOLARSHIP FOR INTEREST AND IMPROVEMENT IN AFFORDABILITY OR ROTORCRAFT

Daniele Granata, PhD candidate at DAER, working at Rotorcraft Aerodynamics Lab with Professor Alex Zanotti, has been awarded with the 2025 Dr. Jing Yen Cost Awareness scholarship for interest and improvement in affordability or rotorcraft.

He was recognized as one of the top candidates following evaluation by a technical committee as part of the selection process for the 2025 Vertical Flight Foundation Scholarships.

The awardees were recognized during the Opening General Session and Nikolsky Lectureship on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, within Vertical Flight Society’s 81st Annual Forum & Technology Display in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA.

Bio:

Daniele Granata is a PhD candidate at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, specializing in Aerospace Engineering. His research focuses on Aircraft and Rotorcraft Aerodynamics, CFD, Wind Tunnel Testing, Aeroacoustics, Modeling and Simulation techniques.

He earned his B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering in 2021 and a M.S. degree with honors in Aeronautical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2023.

During his master’s studies, he collaborated with leading aerospace companies.

Since November 2023, he has been pursuing a PhD dedicated to advancing research on electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for urban air mobility.
