Full Professor

Sergio Ricci is a Full Professor at the Dipartimento di Scienze e Tecnologie Aerospaziali (DAER) at the Politecnico di Milano, Italy, a position he has held since 2018. He earned both his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in July 1989 and his Laurea (MS) in Aeronautical Engineering in January 1986 from Politecnico di Milano.

His academic contributions include serving as Director of the Ph.D. program in Aerospace Engineering from 2007 to 2013, as well as being an active member of the Faculty Group for Information and Communications and a member of the Department Research Advisory Board from 2011 to 2013.

Within the professional aerospace community, he is a member of several distinguished technical committees, including the International Forum of Structural Dynamics and Aeroelasticity (IFASD) and the International Council of Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS). He also contributes as a member of the Italian branch of the Advisory Council for Aeronautics Research in Europe (ACARE) and participates in the Aeroelastic Prediction Workshop (AeP). Prof. Ricci serves as an Associate Editor for both the AIAA Journal and the CEAS Aeronautical Journal.

Prof. Ricci is the founder and coordinator of AeroStructures Design Research Lab (ASDL), primarily focused on: numerical and experimental structural dynamics, aeroelasticity, and multidisciplinary aircraft optimization (MDO), with specific interest in fast structural sizing and aeroelastic analysis of aircraft during the conceptual design phase, as well as in the development of morphing aircraft technologies.
